Afternoon tea has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity thanks to TV shows such as Bridgerton and Downton Abbey.

Derbyshire is awash with places where you can tuck into cream scones and fancy cakes.

We are raising a cuppa to Afternoon Tea Week with a little help from our social media followers who nominate their favourite places.

Amanda Bowler says on Facebook: “Coffee Cup, Bolsover. Sally Barnett is the best!”

Ann Nettleship posts: “Church Farm garden at Eckington, lovely food and very lovely friendly owner.”

Karen Riggott recommends Lillybelles at Jackson’s bakery in Clay Cross, which also does a good takeaway.

Lorna Wilson’s favourite place is Edensor Tea Cottage on the Chatsworth estate.

And Georgia Collins-Brown says: “Ringwood Hall, Brimington, is gorgeous.”

This week Marks and Spencer revealed that sales of its scones grew 40 percent in Derbyshire and Staffordshire compared to the same period in 2019, while clotted cream sales rose 111 per cent. Sales of M&S afternoon tea hampers have risen by more than 400 percent.
