Small Town Girl Bakery, run by mum of three Angela Ostler from her home in Lower Pilsley, is producing seasonal goodies to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Angela, who launched her cake business ten years ago, said :“I love creating edible works of art for people to celebrate big life events but the past year has meant my business has had to adapt as big celebrations have been cancelled.

So my cupcake bouquet deliveries have become very popular as have my seasonal treat boxes. It’s been one of the highlights of the lockdowns seeing people’s faces when they open the door to one of my bouquets – all done at a safe distance of course.”

Her Easter range includes carrot or vanilla flavoured cupcakes, topped with buttercream and decorated with mini eggs and fried egg sweets. A box of four cakes costs £8 or a box of six costs £12.

Brownie scotch eggs offers a choice of creme eggs, caramel eggs, Oreo eggs or Ferroro Rocher eggs enrobed in chocolate brownie, coated in milk chocolate and rolled in a biscuit crumb. A box of four costs £11.

Want a special gift? Splash out on an Easter treat box costing £13 and containing mini egg cupcake (carrot or vanilla), creme egg brownie, vanilla sugar cookie, brownie scotch egg, hot chocolate stirrer, white chocolate egg filled with chocolate cake, chocolate lolly, marshmallows, sweets and sprinkles.

If you’re watching your waistline or the pennies, Small Town Girl Bakery offers a hot chocolate stirrer made from Belgian milk (white or ruby) chocolate with mini eggs or Kit Kat bunny with marshmallows and sprinkles at £3 each or £2.50 without marshmallows and sprinkles.

Angela is celebrating a milestone birthday this week. She said: “I’m 50 on Good Friday and hoping I’m not having to make my own cake!”

The Inspired Cake Company in Clowne is producing “bunny bums”, each with a whole Terry’s chocolate orange, a Ferrero Rocher chocolate tail and chocolate feet which are handmade.
