1. Bakewell Pudding.
The world famous Bakewell Pudding. It's understood to be first made by accident by Mrs Greaves, of the town's Rutland Arms Hotel, who left instructions for a jam tart to be made. Instead of stirring the eggs and almond paste mixture into the pastry, the cook responsible, spread it on top of the jam and the mixture set like custard. Photo: Handout
2. Stilton Cheese.
An official watches as competitors participate in the Stilton Cheese rolling competition on Stilton High Street. Incredibly, since the 1920s, it has been illegal to produce Stilton anywhere outside Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. Photo: Dan Kitwood
3. Ashbourne gingerbread.
Gingerbread also has connections to Derbyshire. It's believed that during the Napoleonic wars French prisoners were held in Ashbourne and the recipe was given to an Ashbourne baker and this recipe has been used ever since. Photo: Sean Gallup
4. Derbyshire Fidgety Pie.
Fidgety Pie has been around for at least 400 years and importantly kept the hard working people of Derbyshire nourished. The name Fidget was originally inspired by the five-sided pentagonal shape. The popular pie is made with potatoes, apple, sweet-cured gammon and onions. Photo: Matt Cardy
