Pantomime's leading lady Lucy Dixon made a name for herself through television programmes such as Hollyoaks and Waterloo Road.'¨Here, the Stockport actress shares her experience of playing Snow White on stage at Buxton Opera House this season:

“We’re coming up for our tenth performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and each show has been even more fun than the last.

“The festive spirit is infectious here, particularly in this beautiful theatre, and audiences are having a ball. So am I. The dance numbers are amazing, our wicked queen is truly terrifying and I love my scenes with the dwarfs, who are just like living cartoon characters.

“I never get tired of watching James Holmes (who plays the castle cook, Dame Brenda Bakewell) and Matthew Jay Ryan (who plays Muddles) in their cooking scene.

“Best of all, I love being Snow White.  It’s a magical fairytale, and was one of my favourites, growing up. It’s great to be able to bring the story alive for the children in the audience.

“Pantomime is one of the best Great British traditions. My grandma and grandad still come and see me do panto and I have little godchildren that watch it.”

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs runs at Buxton Opera House until January 1. Tickets cost from £17.50 to £23 and discounts and group rates are available. To book seats go online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk or call the box office on 01298 72190.
