Over the years the number of pubs has changed, with some closing and being converted or knocked down for housing, whilst others still exist under different names.
Here we look back and raise a glass to some of the ‘lost’ pubs of the Brampton Mile that are now longer with us.
5. Red Lion
Next to the Prince was anonther boozer no longer with us, The Red Lion. Located on the corner of Barker Lane, the building is still a popular watering hole today after being the Crafty Dog and now known as Midpoint Photo: Google
6. Google
The New Inn, just a little further down Chatsworth Road is also a name no longer with us - although drinkers can still enjoy a pint at the venue, which is now the Tramway Tavern. Photo: The New Inn
7. The Grouse
The Grouse was another popular stop for Milers and was often a place you coud also catch some live music. The pub rebranded as the Dizzy Duck, but sadly closed its doors in July 2023. Photo: Google
8. The Brad
Like the 'authentic' recipe for paella or the best Star Wars film, the Brampton Mile sparks debate as much as nostalgia over which pubs should - or shouild not - be included on the list. The Bradbury Club, as a nightclub more than a pub, probably falls outside most BM officiandos' lists, but is included her as a tribute to those who danced the night away there in years gone by.
