Never before seen pictures reveal how Chesterfield looked more than 100 years ago

A reader has donated old photographs going as far back as 1916 to our archive which show the people in and around Chesterfield.

Reader Pat Bradley is now in her 80s but used to teach in Staveley and ran the local Brownie group.

These pictures have never been seen outside her family but she wanted to share the images with the wider community.

She said: "I have boxes and boxes of photographs taken by me and even taken of my grandparents in the early 20th century but they were just sitting around doing nothing.

"They were taken to be seen and I want to share them with people as it is a piece of history and a moment in time captured forever.

"It's great to look back at how things were and how things have changed."

What do you think of the pictures?
