Do you remember these 90s nightspots in Chesterfield?

Nightlife was buzzing in Chesterfield in the Nineties when revellers flocked to haunts such as Xanadu and The Bradbury Club.

The decade evokes fond memories among Derbyshire Times readers. Andy Dysart commented on our Facebook page: “Ah, those were the days. 10p a pint in Xanadu on a Monday, Olde House on a Tuesday, night off on a Wednesday, grab a granny on a Thursday night in town, Friday and Saturday night in Xanadu or the Brad and pound a pint in town on a Sunday. Week sorted.”

Xanadu was the hot favourite among revellers such as Steph Leigh King who said: “Loved my nights out there” while Debbie O’Malley commented: “Best times.”

Neil Anderson, author of the Dirty Stop Outs Guide to 1990s Chesterfield, said: “The after-dark experience on offer was buzzing. Britpop was at its height and the success of the sprawling Bradbury Club seemed to totally transform the fortunes of the pubs on the Brampton Mile.

“From the alternative nature of the Green Room to the opening of the Barking Badger – it was a great time to be tripping the light fantastic in Chez Vegas!

"I think Chesterfield was arguably at its most confident in the 1990s. Getting to within a game of the FA Cup final seems almost unthinkable when you compare it to the lowly fortunes of Chesterfield FC today.”
