From plush new buildings to the loss of old workplaces and the creation of modern transport links, here are 10 examples illustrating how the town has altered since 2000.
1. Chesterfield Fire Station
Chesterfield's former fire station on Sheffield Road, Whittington Moor, was demolished in 2012, three years after a new £4.5 million base for the brigade opened at the Spire Walk Business Park.

4. In the market for a revamp
Chesterfield's Victorian Market Hall - originally built in 1857 - was fully refurbished in 2013. The Duke of Devonshire, pictured left, was shown around the revamped building.
Also in the background is the vacant Hudson's store - the music shop that ceased trading in 2012 after 105 years in business.
