First Intuition Yorkshire and Humber were today praised for helping to save lives as the new sponsor of a podcast series highlighting breast cancer awareness.

Mother and Daughter Breast of Friends is the voice of the National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline (NHBCH), promoting preventative surgery.

First Intuition Yorkshire and Humber, a premier college for aspiring accountants, says it is honoured to support the initiative.

The podcast is created by inspirational NHBCH) founder Wendy Watson and her BBC radio presenter Becky Measures, who have both had a double mastectomy to avoid breast cancer, following deaths in their family from the disease.

The collaboration is driven by the personal and heartfelt connection of CEO Lucy Parr, whose mother, Marian, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Lucy was profoundly moved after hearing Becky, the podcast co-host, speak at an accountants' dinner in Sheffield. Becky's passion and dedication to raising breast cancer awareness resonated deeply with Lucy, especially given her own high-risk status and family history.

Becky said: “We cannot do what we do without the support of wonderful sponsors. Our huge thanks go to First Intuition Yorkshire and Humber and CEO Lucy - not only do we have a sponsor, we have extended our family and we , alongside many others are massively grateful to you for your incredible support, they said.

Lucy Parr leads a dynamic and female-strong team at First Intuition, with young women making up a significant part of her workforce. She is committed to educating her team about breast cancer, emphasising the importance of awareness and self-examination.

The first two episodes of this series have been released and offer compelling insights.

In the inaugural episode, Becky and her mother Wendy engage in a heartfelt conversation with Lucy and Marian.

Together, they explore their breast cancer journeys. A poignant moment arises when Lucy and Marian make a startling discovery: their breast cancer risk may not stem from Marian's side of the family but from Lucy's paternal grandmother, who tragically passed away from breast cancer in her 30s.

The second episode sees Becky travelling to Leeds to meet the team at First Intuition Yorkshire and Humber.

The conversation spans various age groups, from 18 to 50, delving into their knowledge of hereditary breast cancer and the critical importance of self-examination. The episode is noted for its engaging and safe atmosphere, encouraging open dialogue in a fun and informative manner.

Looking ahead, another episode is set to be recorded in the coming weeks. This future installment will focus on female empowerment, the challenges, and joys of being strong women, and promises to deliver both insightful discussions and guaranteed laughs.

First Intuition Yorkshire and Humber's sponsorship underscores the importance of community and corporate responsibility in health education.
