Derbyshire School issues update on pupil's coronavirus test results

A Derbyshire school whose pupil was tested for coronavirus has issued an update on the test results.

On Thursday, the head teacher at Brookfield Community School in Chesterfield confirmed one of the students had been tested for coronavirus after feeling unwell. The pupil had been on holiday to a non-affected area of Italy during the recent half-term break.

The test results were expected on Friday. However, on Friday afternoon the school announced the student and his family are still awaiting results.

In a statement, head teacher Keith Hirst said: “Further to the communication yesterday regarding suspected Coronavirus, I can confirm that the family are still awaiting results of tests.

“When further information is available, we will be in further contact with all parents. In the meantime the advice remains as previously stated.”

The number of coronavirus cases in the UK currently stands at 19.
