Derbyshire coronavirus update following school and medical practice closure

A Derbyshire school has confirmed it will reopen on Monday following a two-day closure after a pupil’s parent was diagnosed with coronavirus.

Burbage Primary School in Buxton has been shut since Thursday for a ‘deep clean’ following the parent’s diagnosis. The school also released coronavirus advice from the NHS to parents on Thursday.

The parent of a child at the school had returned from a foreign holiday to an area affected by coronavirus during the half term break.

Meanwhile, Buxton Medical Practice, which also closed on Thursday after one of its patients contracted the deadly bug, has now reopened. The practice confirmed to the Derbyshire Times on Friday (28 February) they are now reopen with full opening hours.

It it not yet known if the two closures are linked.

There are currently 16 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, with the number expected to continue rising.
