The centre will be managed by specially-trained pharmacists and staff from local Peak Pharmacy branches.

Staff at Casa – which is owned by Steve Perez – will also help with key duties such as marshalling.

A Peak Pharmacy spokesperson said: “Preparations for the Covid-19 vaccination clinic at Casa are on track, with appointments booked in and starting on Thursday.

“Preparations and planning have all gone smoothly with vaccine deliveries scheduled in.

“We wish to remind people that we cannot accept direct bookings via Casa or Peak Pharmacy, and patients will need to wait until invited to book in through the official NHS system.”

Peak Pharmacy, which is part of PCT Healthcare, is well-experienced in giving inoculations – the company has administered more than 30,000 flu jabs this winter.

Mr Perez said: “Preparations are going well and everyone is looking forward to getting the Casa vaccination site up and running – Thursday will be a good day and an important one for our town.

“The more vaccination centres we can have in Chesterfield, the better – and the quicker we can get back to living our lives again.”

There are currently two coronavirus vaccination sites in Chesterfield – the Winding Wheel and Wheatbridge Surgery.

According to the latest NHS England data, the total number of first Covid-19 doses given in Derbyshire up to January 24 was 118,977. This figure was 67,010 the previous week.

Just over 82 per cent of Derbyshire people aged 80 and over have now had their first dose – compared to a national average of 80 per cent.

By February 15, the Government aims to have offered a first vaccine dose to everyone in the top four priority groups – care home residents and workers, frontline health and social care staff, all those aged over-70 and the extremely clinically vulnerable – which amounts to around 240,000 people in Derbyshire.
