Two more patients with Covid-19 die in Chesterfield as toll passes 200

A further two coronavirus-related deaths have been confirmed in Chesterfield in the last 48 hours, official data shows.

Figures from NHS England reveal one death was recorded at Chesterfield Royal Hospital on both Monday (7 December) and Tuesday (8 December).

It brings the Covid-19 death toll at the hospital to 201 since the pandemic hit.

Nationally, a further 405 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 46,983.

Patients were aged between 26 and 100 years old.

Derbyshire is currently under Tier 3 restrictions. In the week to December 17 (the latest available) the infection rate in the town was 163.0, reflecting 171 new cases that week.

The week before it was 125.8 (132 new cases).

Data for the most recent four days (December 18-21) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.
