Two more deaths from coronavirus in Derbyshire as cases rise

A further 34 positive coronavirus tests have been recorded in Derbyshire – and two more people have died.

The UK-wide total number of cases has increased by 3,105 in the last 24 hours, rising to 374,228, according to the latest Government figures.

Twenty-eight new cases were confirmed in Derbyshire, making its total 3,978.

Six further cases were recorded in Derby city.

The two new deaths were recorded at Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, both on September 13.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital was caring for two patients with Covid-19 as of 3pm on Monday, officials have said.

At the same time last week, no coronavirus patients were being cared for at the Royal.

Earlier this year, the Royal was looking after around 70 Covid-19 patients at any one time.

Since the end of March this, 580 patients who tested positive for coronavirus were discharged home after care and treatment at the hospital.
