At 2pm on Thursday, there were 97 people with the virus at the Royal – nine of whom were in intensive care.
During the middle of last week, there were 180 coronavirus patients – 16 of whom were in intensive care – at the hospital.

Sarah Turner-Saint, Chesterfield Royal Hospital spokesperson, confirmed the trust had now recorded a total of 386 deaths linked to Covid-19.
She offered her condolences to all those who have lost a loved one during the pandemic.
Members of the public are being reminded ‘to stay vigilant, to follow Government guidance and the safety measures put in place, and to stay at home unless it’s absolutely essential to help reduce the spread of Covid-19 and protect all NHS services’.
Since March 23 last year, a total of 1,451 people have been discharged home after receiving treatment for Covid-19 at the Royal.

Hide AdMeanwhile, new figures show nearly 260,000 people across Derbyshire have now had at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
That includes 52,588 people aged over 80.
In total, 257,746 people across the county have had at least their first jab between December 8, when vaccinations began, and February 14, according to data published by NHS England on Thursday.
