The latest infection rate for Chesterfield as Covid-19 case numbers fall

In Chesterfield the infection rate now stands at 307 new cases per 100,000 people. This amounts to 322 new cases in the week to November 12 – the latest week for which NHS figures are available.

Data for the most recent four days (November 13-16) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.

In the week to November 5, the infection rate was 339.4 new cases per 100,000 people, which meant there were 356 confirmed new cases in the town.

A majority of areas in England (238 out of 315) have seen a rise in case rates.

However, in many local authorities in Derbyshire the number of new cases fell.

In the High Peak the rate fell from 310.8 per 100,000 in the week up to November 5 (288 new cases) to 300 in the week to November 12 (278 new cases).

In Bolsover the infection rate fell from 489.1 per 100,000 people to 449.3. And in North East Derbyshire the rate fell from 312.4 (317 new cases) in the week to November 5 to 279.9 (284 new cases) in the week to November 12.

Elsewhere the infection rate increased.

In the Derbyshire Dales the rate rose from 197.7 (143 new cases) to 229.5 (166 new cases).

And in the Amber Valley it went from 426.9 in the week to November 5 to 453.4 in the week to November 12.
