The moving display of gratitude was organised by PC Aaron Vernon, of Chesterfield Town Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team, as part of the Clap Our Carers campaign.

Paying tribute to NHS staff, the team said: "We can’t thank them enough."

Officers added: "We’d also like to say a big thank you to the public for staying home in the last couple of weeks. Together we will beat this."

Households across Britain again stopped what they were doing last night, Thursday, April 2, at 8pm, and clapped from their doors and windows to show their appreciation for the sterling efforts of NHS staff and other key workers.
