Nine further Covid-19 deaths recorded in Chesterfield as 651 more die in England

Nine further deaths of patients who tested positive for coronavirus have been confirmed in Chesterfield, bringing the total to 47.

There are currently 653 cases in Derbyshire, according to NHS England.

Nationally, another 761 patients with coronavirus have died in UK hospitals, which takes the total to 12,868.

Patients were aged between 20 and 101, and 20 of those (aged 20 to 101) had no known underlying health conditions.

However, the true number of deaths is thought to be much higher due to the number of people dying in care homes and hospices, that are not included in the figures.

Figures compiled by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have suggested that the real number of deaths may be higher.

The latest ONS data shows 10 per cent of coronavirus-related deaths in England and Wales during the week ending April 3 did not happen in hospital, with more than half happening in care homes.
