Latest number of coronavirus deaths at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and confirmed cases in Derbyshire

There have now been 32 Covid-19-related deaths at Chesterfield Royal Hospital – with more than 900 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county.

Latest NHS England figures show that the current death toll as of 5pm yesterday stands at 32 for Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Across the area as a whole there have been 916 confirmed cases of Covid-19 – 603 in Derbyshire county and 313 in Derby city.

The UK recorded 980 hospital deaths on Thursday, bringing the total to 8,958.

That death toll, which does not include those who died in care homes or the community, has exceeded the worst daily figures seen in Italy and Spain.

But England’s deputy chief medical officer, Jonathan Van-Tam, warned it was ‘impossible to say we have peaked’, adding that the measures the country was taking with social distancing needed to continue.
