Dronfield school makes face shields to protect front line NHS workers

With the lack of sufficient personal protective equipment being highlighted in the news in recent weeks, many people across the country have been inspired to help where they can, particularly by providing more protective equipment.

Victoria Webb was one such inspired individual who came across a story about a school in Bolton making face shields for NHS workers coming face-to-face with the coronavirus.

She decided to email the Head teacher of her local school, Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School, Mr Martyn Cooper, to see if the school could use their 3D printers for the same purpose.

Victoria said: “On the first of April, I emailed Mr. Cooper to see if it was at all possible to try and make more PPE equipment, by three o’clock, Mr. Cooper had replied telling me they had a team of teachers and students working together to create more face shields.

“The plan saw the school create 300 visors by Friday the third of April, ready for workers to use on the front line. The response from the school to get the staff, source the materials and produce the equipment is simply amazing.

“The school have since continued to create the visors and send them to ‘hot hubs’ across areas where all practices are working together to see to coronavirus patients.

“These voluntary acts of kindness can go a long way to restoring faith in humanity and proves that together we can beat anything.”
