Hello and welcome to our live blog. We’ll bring you the latest news and reaction on the tier announcement as it happens.

Derbyshire has been under Tier 3 since December 2, meaning groups of six can only meet in outdoor public spaces such as parks – and hospitality venues must remain closed apart from delivery, takeaway and drive-through services.

When can we expect the announcement?

The tier announcement is expected to be announced by Health Secretary Matt Hancock at 11.30am. It comes after the Government met yesterday to review the tier system.

What are the tier restrictions based on?

Ministers analyse the following data:

– case detection rates in all age groups

– case detection rates in the over-60s

– the rate at which cases are rising or falling

– the number of positive cases detected as a percentage of tests taken

– pressure on the NHS, including current and projected occupancy

The tiers decided today will remain in place until December 23 - when there will then be a five-day-long Christmas break in restrictions. These will end on December 27.

If Derbyshire is moved to Tier 2, will you be able to go to the pub?

If the county is placed in Tier 2 today, hospitality businesses which serve substantial meals would be able to welcome back customers.

Instead of the previous 10pm curfew, pubs, restaurants and bars would stay open until 11pm but alcohol would only be served alongside a full meal.
