Chesterfield's rate of new Covid-19 cases increases

The number of new people testing positive for coronavirus in Chesterfield has increased in the last recorded week, according to the latest Public Health England data.

Chesterfield had six new Covid-19 cases in the seven days up until August 2, a rise from the two people who were recorded to have contracted the virus in the week ending July 26.

The town now has 5.7 positive cases per 100,000,according to information published by Public Health England, compared to the 1.9 rate of cases documented in week up until July 16.

The most recent data is taken from the government’s coronavirus online dashboard, based on tests carried out in laboratories and in the wider community as part of the national testing programme.

In Blackburn with Darwen, 120 new cases have been recorded as the rate has fallen from 91.5 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to July 26 – to 80.2 in the week ending August 2.
