Chesterfield's coronavirus death toll increases

Chesterfield’s coronavirus death toll has risen again, with three more fatalities recorded in the town.

The total number of people who have died at Chesterfield Royal Hospital after contracting the disease now stands at 76, according to NHS England figures.

Across the entirety of the country, 352 people, who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 20,483.

Patients were aged between 30 and 103 years old. 18 of the 352 patients (aged between 43 and 98 years old) had no known underlying health condition.

This week Boris Johnson promised a ‘comprehensive’ plan and a ‘road map’ of options on how lockdown restrictions could be eased after declaring that the UK was ‘past the peak’ of the outbreak.

More details are expected to be announced by the Prime Minister next week.
