Staff from Derbyshire-based Peak Pharmacy have been working with Casa owner Steve Perez to make the idea a reality.

From February 1, 300 people each day will receive their jabs at the four-star hotel on Lockoford Lane.

Open from 8am to 8pm seven days a week, the centre will be managed by specially-trained pharmacists and staff from local Peak Pharmacy branches.

They will be supported by workers from Casa who will help with duties such as marshalling.

Joe Cattee, director of family-owned Peak Pharmacy – which is part of PCT Healthcare – said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for community pharmacy to once again show another way in which it supports patients nationwide.

“We are here to ensure the wider well-being of the communities we serve.

“As a business we have administered over 30,000 flu vaccinations this winter – as well as supporting patients with other services ranging from travel clinics through to reviews of newly-prescribed medicines.

“It therefore made sense that we should be actively involved in the national Covid -19 vaccination effort.

“We’re thrilled to be coming together with another family-owned local business to start vaccinating the people of Derbyshire.

“I want to thank all our staff within Peak Pharmacy who have made this a reality – and continued to selflessly go around their duties supporting the community through these telling times.

“Hopefully we are now one step closer to protecting our staff and patients from this awful virus.”

A Peak Pharmacy spokesperson said 300 people per day would be vaccinated against Covid -19 at Casa.

People are reminded that the NHS will contact them when it is their turn to have the vaccine.

Mr Perez added: “I’m absolutely delighted with this news – it’s fantastic.

“We’re ideally located with plenty of space and we’ll have a dedicated car park at the site for people coming to get their vaccine.

“Lots of my staff will be on hand to help with things such as marshalling.

“The more vaccination centres we can have in Chesterfield, the better – and the quicker we can get back to living our lives again.

“We can’t wait to get going.”
