Chesterfield school issues update after positive coronavirus case confirmed

Bosses at a Chesterfield school which sent pupils home yesterday has issued an update after confirming a case of Covid-19.

School bosses have now confirmed a coronavirus case and updated parents on the situation.

Sarah Ferguson, chief operating officer of Derby Diocesan Academy Trust, which runs the school in Cranbone Road, said: “Following a member of the school community testing positive for coronavirus, and following subsequent advice from the local Health Protection Team, close contacts of the individual have been asked to self-isolate as a precaution.

"The safety of our pupils and staff is paramount and the school has followed all advice provided by the Health Protection Team and has also followed all measures set out in the school’s risk assessment.

"We would like to pass on our very best wishes for a speedy recovery to the individual who is unwell.”

Yesterday, headteacher Kerry Marsh wrote on Facebook: “Please can all parents / carers of children in Year 5 make arrangements to collect their children from school as soon as possible.

"Please be assured that all children are safe and well, and that further information will be shared with you once you arrive at school. Only call the school office regarding this matter if you are unable to collect your child. Siblings of children in Year 5 will also be allowed to leave the school site on collection.”
