Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and Bolsover named as 'Covid hotspots' after recording rise in cases

Data from Public Health England (PHE) shows infection rates are rising in just 18 areas – with 297 local authorities seeing a decrease in cases.
In signs the third national lockdown is starting to have an impact, the data shows cases are rising in just six per cent of areas.

Hide AdBut these areas of concern include Bolsover where cases per 100,000 people have increased from 482.9 to 502.7 over the past seven days.
Chesterfield is also on the list, with an increase from 373.7 to 383.2, and North East Derbyshire is eighth with an increase from 325.2 to 341.
The government's chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance said yesterday that the country is in a position where the lockdowns have worked.
He said: "They've slowed this down, they've reached a position where it has reached a plateau and is beginning to decline – and we see that in cases, we're beginning to see that in hospital admissions and we're beginning to see that in deaths - but it is early days."

Hide AdPrime Minister Boris Johnson said lockdown measures will be in place until at least March 8.
Bassetlaw in neighbouring Nottinghamshire has jumped the most going from 232.4 infections per 100,000 to 371.2.
Vaccines are being rolled out across the area and Bassetlaw's MP Brendan Clarke-Smith was this week criticised after he received a dose of the vaccine.
