Coronavirus: Two more lives lost in Chesterfield as national lockdown begins

Two more coronavirus patients have died in Chesterfield, the latest figures have revealed, as the town enters a second national lockdown.

The most recent data from Public Health England shows that Chesterfield Royal Hospital has recorded two further coronavirus deaths meaning that six patients have died this week.

All patients had tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the town’s total hospital death toll to 148.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital issued an update on its coronavirus sitation earlier this with the site revealing there were 47 patients in the hospital with coronavirus and 13 in intensive care.

But the hospital said it was not ‘simply providing a Covid service’, and around 350 other patients are also receiving urgent care on its wards.

Across the country a further 236 people have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 33,873.

Patients were aged between 27 and 99 years old. All except 18 had known underlying health conditions.
