A Derbyshire school has pleaded with parents for their support in helping enforce a face covering rule for pupils.

The Bolsover School said assistance from parents would be “greatly appreciated” amid reports of some students removing face coverings on the school bus and disobeying rules to wear them in communal areas.

A spokesperson for the secondary school said: “Students should now be sent to school with a face covering, which should be worn in all communal areas within the school and also throughout the entire journey if using school transport.

"Your support in reinforcing the wearing of face coverings, particularly on the entire school transport journey would be greatly appreciated as we are receiving reports of some students removing them once the vehicle has left the school site.”

In England, anyone over the age of 11 must wear a face covering on public transport by law unless there is a medical exemption.
