A Chesterfield school remains closed today after pupils and staff were sent home due to a fire alarm fault.

Brookfield Community School is still shut to pupils this morning (Friday, November 6) as engineers work to get to the bottom of the issue.

A statement on the Chatsworth Road school’s website yesterday read: “Due to a technical fault this morning with the fire alarm system the school will close with immediate effect for all students and staff. Engineers will be on site shortly to assess the situation.

"Students are currently with their Form Tutors and they will be sent home once it has been confirmed with their Head of Year that they are able to do so.”

This update followed in the evening: “Following the closure of school today we can confirm that school will also be closed tomorrow – Friday 6th November 2020 – for all students and staff.”
