Planning permission for the unit, on land to the west of Railway View, Clay Cross, has been granted to Roe Developments by North East Derbyshire District Council.

The unit is expected to be used as a warehouse and will employ 15 people as part of a wider development on the former open cast mine.

Planning documents describe the proposals for the site overall as a ‘major development’.

“The application site relates to a former rough paddock area where employment development is under construction, positioned to the west of the railway line and to the east of Coney Green Road,” documents say.

The Coney Green devlopment also includes Frank Berry Office Supplies Ltd and Bellway Homes.

Council planners have given the go-ahead with a series of conditions.
