Get your business involved in the Chesterfield at Christmas campaign

Destination Chesterfield has teamed up with Chesterfield Borough Council to launched the Christmas in Chesterfield Campaign to promote people to support local businesses over the Christmas period.

The bolstered campaign for 2020 includes more marketing activity than previous years and a couple of new experiences to drive footfall or, if lockdown is extended, awareness of businesses on the run up to Christmas.

The campaign team has created a range of marketing assets to download as well as 10 suggestions of things people can do over Christmas and beyond to promote their business, the town and other businesses across Chesterfield.

To further help with the campaign, the council has recently appointed Rebecca Bland as town centre engagement officer to ensure Chesterfield town centre remains vibrant and viable.

Rebecca will work with supporting retailers, market traders, landlords and other town centre stakeholders to co-ordinate activity to support to improve the town centre as a destination to visit, live and invest.

The borough council has also partnered with Derbyshire County Council to help businesses take advantage of the award-winning ShopAppy.com platform, which has already successfully launched in 150 towns across the UK.

Many independent businesses have been looking at new ways to adapt and innovate during the Covid lockdown – and Shopappy.com, which is for shops and services alike, can help.

It’s a one stop, local, online support platform which enables customers to see what local shops and services have to offer, all in one place.

Created four years ago to provide an alternative way for places and small businesses to compete with online retail giants, ShopAppy allows customers to book events and experiences as well as browse and buy local products online.To further help, the Derbyshire Economic Partnership, which comprises the county council and eight partner district councils, has also take care of the first-year membership fee to be on ShopAppy.

Business owners are also reminded that the Chesterfield Investment Summit takes place on Wednesday, November 25 from 8am.

Ojay McDonald, chief executive of the Association of Town and City Management, will be the headline speaker, talking about the future of the high street.
