The Lifehouse Church has opened a ‘pop-up’ shop on Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield, where it takes in donations of old and new uniforms which are then given away to anyone in the community who needs them.

The shop, formerly wedding business Precious Bridal, opened today (Wednesday, August 12) and stocks ‘good quality uniforms, shoes, bags, coats, pencil cases and more’.

Organisers from the church, also based on Chatsworth Road, say they ‘couldn’t be more excited’ and urged members of the community to get involved.

"If you don’t have kids in school you can still get involved,” the church said in a Facebook post. "Buy some new uniform and donate it to our shop.”

They added: “Please wear a mask and be mindful of others. We can’t wait to welcome you!”

Chesterfield parents have been quick to praise the initiative and urged residents to spread the word.

Nicola Clare Boler said: “What a fabulous idea.”

Dee Ferris posted on the church’s Facebook page: “This is amazing we have only moved to the area, so it would help us a lot.”

The shop is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10am-4pm and 10am-7pm on Thursday at 131 Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield.
