How to report people in Chesterfield to police if they are breaching coronavirus lockdown rules

Most of the county including Chesterfield was placed under Tier 1- Medium lockdown restrictions yesterday (Monday, October 12), meaning residents will face no further restrictions at this time and existing national rules will remain in place.

These restrictions include obeying the Rule of Six, pubs and restaurants having to close by 10pm, and working from home where possible.

This is the case across Derbyshire except in some areas of the High Peak, such as Glossop and Hadfield, which have been moved into the Tier 2- High category.

Residents in this tier will not be allowed to mix indoors with anyone outside of their own household or support bubble.

The new rules come into force tomorrow in a bid to reduce the spread of coronavirus due to rising infection rates across the country, with the North particularly affected.

Police officers have been granted powers to enforce lockdown rules. Derbyshire Police said that in an emergency, callers should always dial 999.

This includes incidents where there is a threat to life, violence to a person or damage to property is imminent, a serious offence is in progress,

serious disruption to the public is taking or likely to take place, a suspected offender is still at the scene of an incident or any delay in reporting the incident may prevent the offender being apprehended.

Breaches of Covid rules should be sent to Derbyshire Police using an online form and postcode tracker on the force’s website.

You should ponly report something if you think there is a serious breach of the rules like a large gathering of people obviously from lots of different households.
