Like pubs up and own the country, the Pig & Pump, on St Mary’s Gate, has been closed to drinkers since the coronavirus lockdown began in March.
But for the first time in more than three months, the shutters will go up on Saturday and regulars are being told to expect £45,000 of improvements to make the venue safe.
Owners Tom O'Neill and Kate Simpson said: “We would like to thank our customers for the support over the lockdown period, it really has kept us going!
“From July 4 we will be operating in a world we have never experienced before and we ask our customers to bear with us, be kind and listen to instructions on arrival.
“We can’t wait to be back serving cask ales, serving fabulous food and catching up with our customers. Not long to go!”
