Full Power Fitness on Derby Road, Heanor, had already begun welcoming back members following the coronavirus outbreak by transforming its grounds into an outdoor gym area with a selection of equipment for personal use and small group classes.

Now, after the Government announced indoor gyms could operate again, the Full Power team has reopened the whole business with a fresh timetable, new equipment and new measures in place to ensure members can work out safely.

Measures include an appointment-based system to limit the number of people in the gym at any one time and temperature tests for clients on arrival to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

Paul Holmes, of Full Power Fitness, said: “As a relatively new business, closing the gym was a huge blow to us all – not least our members.

“But our staff have been fantastic, giving up their time to offer free online classes to members and non-members alike through lockdown and our clients have been so supportive with many offering to continue paying their membership despite the fact we had to close.

“Full Power Fitness is such a great community with a real family spirit and we know how much everyone has missed being here – as have we.

“It was great to get the outdoor area up and running and we’re just so pleased that we can finally open the doors to welcome back even more of our members.”

Established in 2018, Full Power Fitness is also home to the Lion’s Den Boxing Club.

Head coach Sam Goodrum said the club was looking forward to getting back to indoor training until restrictions are lifted to allow them to get back in the ring.

He added: “We chose the gym as our base for its people as well as being an awesome place to train and the team have really used this time out to make improvements with the safety of members in mind.

"The place has never looked better.”
