Land Registry figures show the average Chesterfield house price in August was £162,667 – a 1.9 per cent decrease on July.

Hide AdOver the month, the picture was worse than that across the East Midlands, where prices increased 0.6 per cent, and Chesterfield under-performed compared to the 0.7 per cent rise for the UK as a whole.
Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Chesterfield rose by £3,700 – putting the area 30th among the East Midlands’s 40 local authorities for annual growth.
The best annual growth in the region was in Derbyshire Dales, where properties increased on average by 11.9 per cent, to £288,000.
At the other end of the scale, properties in South Kesteven dropped 0.9 per cent in value, giving an average price of £219,000.

Hide AdOwners of flats fared worst in Chesterfield in August as their properites dropped 2.5 per cent in value to £98,457 on average.
Detached and terraced properties both dropped by two per cent in value, while semi-detached properties fell by 1.7 per cent.
First-time buyers in Chesterfield spent an average of £137,900 on their property – £2,900 more than a year ago, and £20,500 more than in August 2015.
By comparison, former owner-occupiers paid £183,600 on average in August – 33.2 per cent more than first-time buyers.
