The Avant Homes’ Pomegranate Park estate, on Pomegranate Road, Newbold, features a range of three and four-bedroom properties and is marketed as an ‘ideal location for families’.

But people who have moved to the estate say the play area is putting their children at risk because it is located next to a fenced-off area of building equipment – which they say has been left by the builders.

Chesterfield-based Avant Homes said it was aware of the issue and aiming to carry out the works at the ‘earliest opportunity’.

A 37-year-old mum and member of the residents’ group, who asked not to be named, said: "The play equipment was installed in September last year, the fenced off area with building equipment has been there ever since.

"The steps were started this year just before lockdown and are yet to be completed.

“Children play on the equipment but it’s not safe.

"As residents of the estate and parents we are concerned about an accident occurring.

"Aside from the fact it’s ugly, it’s a hazard waiting to happen. The nearest alternative playgrounds to our estate are around a 15-minute walk away crossing main roads.

"Several of us have been in email contact with Avant, I personally was told two weeks ago by the customer service team that a team was on site working on it – this is not the case.

"Other residents have had vague responses if any and no firm confirmation of anything being done.”

All the homes at Pomegranate Park have now been sold. It is believed the last residents moved in about 18 months ago.

The properties were marketed as being ‘more home to begin with’ and featured ‘bi-fold doors, exclusive kitchen designs, integrated appliances, Hive smart energy and more’.

An Avant Homes Midlands spokesperson said: “We are aware of the works required at our Pomegranate Park development in Chesterfield and are working with our contractors to ensure the appropriate works are actioned to complete the outstanding remedial items at the earliest opportunity.”
