The Sheffield-born businessman made a fortune from Ella’s Kitchen baby food, established a social enterprise supporting entrepreneurs in Africa and hopes to make a second fortune from Paddy’s Bathroom children’s toiletries – while funding clean water in Rwanda.

All that after a career as an accountant and nine years at children’s television channel, Nickelodeon.

Paul believes the best businesses are those that make profits and have a core purpose to do social good, and his focus is upon improving the rights and welfare of children.

A social conscience is vital in business, he will tell the audience at Sheffield City Hall on Thursday October 22.

MADE: The Entrepreneur Festival will feature a wealth of top speakers including baby food and nutrition guru Annabel Karmel and Dave Coplin, chief envisioning officer of Microsoft UK.

Paul Lindley said: “Businesses who see making money as their only goal are very short-sighted. Modern consumers demand social awareness from the brands they buy, especially younger ones who have been given more awareness of worldwide issues by the internet. It is now so very obvious if companies are not proving they have a social conscience and a scheme that gives back.”

The son of a Sheffield tax office worker, Paul Lindley lived in the city to the age of six.
