Aldi announces £1.6million plan to improve stores in Derbyshire

Aldi is set to invest £1,670,000 in Derbyshire in 2026, as part of its continued expansion across Britain.

The investment will support upgrades to existing Aldi stores in the region, including Project Fresh improvements. Stores set to benefit include Chesterfield.

This forms part of Aldi’s £1.6 billion two-year investment programme announced last year, as the retailer works towards its long-term ambition of operating 1,500 UK stores.

The announcement follows an extensive store opening programme in 2025, which saw Aldi expand into locations from Kirkintilloch in East Dunbartonshire to Eastbourne in East Sussex, as well as Fulham Broadway in London and Deeside in Wales.

Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer, Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “As well as opening new stores, we’re also investing in existing ones to make sure everyone can get what they need from Aldi.

“By extending some stores, and by upgrading and improving others across the country, we can serve even more customers while creating better shopping environments for our colleagues and shoppers. Together with our new stores, that will mean more people can access Aldi’s high-quality products at unbeatable prices.”
