“I do see working outside of London as a positive – here in rural Derbyshire I don’t get swamped and swayed by trends and the latest ‘thing’.

“In any case I like to think that nowadays people are more experimental with design and colour in their homes.

“They seem to prefer mixing styles to find the right look for them in the long term, rather than feeling obliged to buy into the latest trend.”

Since launching her products in Design Week at TENT London in 2010, where she picked up the prestigious ‘Elle Decoration Approval Award’, Esther has established an enviable list of clients which include Liberty London, Harvey Nichols and Jamie Oliver’s chain of restaurants and Union Jacks.

Esther’s winning design, The Triptych Stacks were originally commissioned by the Hayward Gallery. This specific collection was inspired by the colours and cityscapes of Asia and Morocco. The three designs are made of free–blown stacked glass in a vibrant colour palette balanced with slices of dark walnut discs.

Rebecca Thompson, senior colour and design manager at Dulux, said: “This unique lighting collection gives hand blown glass a new lease of life with colour at the very heart of their appeal. I can really see this range projecting a positive impression with colour onto any space.”
