Party-poppers are likely to be let off in the park’s community orchard. Traditionally at wassails, a gun should be fired through the branches of the trees.

The orchard was created in 2009 when Transition Chesterfield donated four fruit trees. The borough council gave a further ten apple trees in 2013.
