Aboard a double decker bus, Don and his friends are on a fun-packed trip to Paris, The Alps, Italy and Greece, in search of a good time and a brilliant summer. On the way they encounter pop bands, runaway stars and of course holiday romance.

Don is played by George Jones, whose theatre credits include The Mousetrap in the West End and Witness For The Prosecution and who was cast as Sam Mitchell’s henchman in EastEnders in 2022.

Especially adapted for Sheffield and featuring classic hits such as Summer Holiday, The Young Ones and Living Doll, Summer Holiday really is the happiest of all the musicals.

Elizabeth Newman, Sheffield Theatres artistic director and co-director of Summer Holiday and co-director Ben Occhipinti said: “For us, Summer Holiday is pure joy - full of freedom, adventure, music and heart. We’re incredibly excited to bring a fresh new energy to this iconic musical and create a production that feels vibrant, uplifting and bursting with life.”

Summer Holiday The Musical is a co-production between Sheffield Theatres and Blackpool Grand Theatre. The show will transfer to Blackpool from July 29 to August 8, 2026.
