These magnificent seven productions are lining up for International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in Buxton

Seven productions will be staged at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in Buxton next year.

Organisers have released the programme which will be performed by three companies at the Opera House from July 31 to August 7, 2021.

The line-up is as follows:

July 31, matinee and evening – The Mikado, performed by National G&S Opera Company.

August 1, matinee and evening – The Pirates of Penzance, performed by National G&S Opera Company.

August 2, evening – Patience, performed by National G&S Opera Company.

August 3, evening – The Gondoliers, performed by Trent Opera.

August 4, matinee – HMS Pinafore, performed by National G&S Opera Company.

August 4, evening – The Pirates of Penzance, performed by National G&S Opera Company.

The coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of this year’s festival, which has run annually since 1994.

Buxton hosts the festival in the week before the biggest event of its kind in the world has its main showcase in Harrogate.

The family-run festival was founded by the late Ian Smith and is now organised by his wife Janet and sons Neil and Oliver.
