Olivier Awards-winning actress Joanna Riding stars in Gypsy at Derbyshire theatre

Double Olivier Award-winner Joanna Riding will be starring in a flagship musical at this year’s Buxton International Festival.

Joanna has been cast as Madame Rose in a production of Gypsy at Buxton Opera House from July 7 to 24, 2022.

She won the Olivier Awards for best actress in a musical after appearing in Carousel in 1993 and My Fair Lady in 2003.

Best known for her work in musical theatre, Joanna’s credits include Follies, Billy Elliot, Guys and Dolls, The Girls and A Little Night Music.

On television she has appeared in Holby City, Midsommer Murders, Casualty, The Royal and Heartbeat.

The highly coveted role of Rose is considered one of the best and most challenging in musical theatre. The story of a woman who foregoes her own desires to make her daughters famous at any cost, Gypsy is set in a world of glamour and backstage intrigue.
