Military tattoo returns to Derbyshire town after two-year absence

Military bands will march back to a Derbyshire town after a two-year hiatus enforced by the Covid-18 pandemic.

The British Army Band Sandhurst, The Band of Nottinghamshire Royal Engineers and the Military Wives Choir will be among those performing at the Buxton Military Tattoo on Saturday, July 2, in the town’s Devonshire Dome.

Now in its 11th year, the event will welcome back The Pipes and Drums of The Scots Guards Association.

Flying the flag for young musicians, the Band of the Manchester Wing of the Royal Air Force Cadets will perform in the arena as will the Stockport Sea Cadets.

The show will build up to a spectacular massed bands finale including the emotive Sunset ceremony and also Lone Piper.

Performances will take place from 2pm until 4.15pm and 7pm until 9.15pm.

This year the Buxton Military Tattoo will support The Royal British Legion, who provide lifelong support to serving and ex-serving personnel and their families throughout the year.

Chris Thornton, event manager, said: “I am delighted that the Tattoo has grown and developed over the last 12 years. We have seen many marvellous performances from the Army, Navy and RAF, so I am proud to announce that we are now able to extend our support across the whole Armed Forces community by raising funds for The Royal British Legion.”
