Matthew Bourne's double Olivier Award-winning production of The Red Shoes will screen in Derbyshire

A broadcast of Matthew Bourne’s double Olivier Award-winning production of The Red Shoes will be shown at Chesterfield’s Pomegranate Theatre.

The Red Shoes is a tale of obsession, possession and one girl's dream to be the greatest dancer in the world. Victoria Page lives to dance but her ambitions become a battleground between the two men who inspire her passion.

The cast is headed by Ashley Shaw, in her winning performance as Victoria Page, world-class dancer and choreographer Adam Cooper as Boris Lermontov and Dominic North as Julian Craster.

Matthew Bourne won best theatre choreographer and the show itself won best entertainment at the 2017 Olivier Awards.

Screenings of The Red Shoes will take place at the Pomegranate Theatre on September 30 and October 5, rearranged from the original dates of May 19 and 24 amid coronavirus lockdown.
