Raise Your Voices: Wirksworth choir shares the joy of singing
Wirksworth’s Raise Your Voices choir enjoyed singing some of their favourite songs in a free drop-in event, “Let Music be in all our Hearts”, as part of the fabulous 2024 Wirksworth Festival, in the splendid acoustics of St Mary's Church, under the leadership of musical director Lester Simpson.
A wonderfully attentive audience offered generous applause, many staying for the full set much to the delight of the choir, as there was a lot happening in town that weekend!
To embrace and share their love of singing, RYV is hosting a Harmony singing workshop on Saturday, 5th October from 10am to 4pm in Wirksworth Town Hall - a fun event with visiting leader, the acclaimed Graham Pratt who plays guitar, keyboard and English concertina.
Songwriting has always been a key activity for him and this workshop will offer mixed singers the opportunity to have a great day of song together, learning tips and technique from a multi-talented choir leader, Graham Pratt.

Although retired from a long and successful career involved with folk music, performing with his wife Eileen all their adult lives, he currently runs the Millhouses Community Choir and the Sheffield Folk Chorale, a performance choir with material written and/or arranged by Graham, reflecting a bias towards traditional English and European music.
Graham will be bringing his vast experience and expertise to the workshop which promises to be a stimulating and enjoyable day.
All are welcome, and no prior singing experience is required to join the mixed voices, together in harmony for the joy of singing… Tickets £12.50.
