Leading crafts people put work on show at Wardlow Mires Pottery and Food Festival

Nationally and internationally-renowned pottery makers and quality food producers will be exhibiting their wares at an annual festival in the Hope Valley.

More than 50 established and up and coming artisans will be contributing to the Wardlow Mires Pottery and Food Festival at the Three Stags Head this weekend.

They include pottery heavyweights Niek Hoogland, Pim van Huisseling, Tim Hurn, Penny Simpson and Josie Walter while Cornish ceramicist and sculptor Peter Smith makes his first visit to any pottery festival.

Jack Blackburn’s Pots from France, Rob Law’s Brampton Saltglaze and Pot Easel will also attend alongside pewter designer and silversmith Keith Tyssen, Clare Lake and her glassware and Austin Neves and Neil Trinder with their woodworking and cabinet making.

Food producers exhibiting include Madhatter’s Cider, Double Dutch Pancakes, Chocolates of the Peak, Staffordshire Savoury Eggs, Frederick’s Ice Cream, Fosters of Chapel-en-le-Frith, Big Daddies Diner, Allwood & Sons Butchers, Hassop Honey and Marge & Mabel’s Dog Treats.

There will be the chance to see cookery demonstrations, decorate and glaze a Raku pot with Chris Jensen and dig out your blunt blades for knife sharpener Andy Knives.

The festival’s theme is A Celebration of the Table and runs from 10am until 5pm on September 12 and 10am until 4pm on September 13. Last entry is one hour before closing time.

Tickets cost £5 on the gate (free for children under 16).
