It’s all White on the night

The Stargazers Drama Group is bringing traditional pantomime back to the church hall in Horsley Woodhouse after a break of nearly ten years.

Snow White will be performed from February 12-14 at 7.15pm and also at 3pm on the Saturday.

The Stargazers have been established for well over 20 years but this is their first show in Horsley Woodhouse. The cast is drawn from the villages of Denby, Horsley, Kilburn and Horsley Woodhouse and this established company of performers has welcomed some new young stars for this show.

Snow White is played with a delicate touch by newcomer Georgia Bonser while the Prince is the multi-talented Sophie Haywood. These young lovers are pitted against Kat Wilson’s Wicked Queen, and her comical henchmen played by Jess Patrick and Phoebe Sanders.

Tickets can be reserved from Cyril Hilliard on 780688, priced at £4 and £2.50.

Ray Rippingale makes a totally unconvincing but chaotic Dame, Nurse Sally while also directing the production. He told the News: “We are delighted to be performing in a beautifully equipped theatre in one of our home villages.

“Horsley Woodhouse Church Hall makes you feel at home straight away with its bright atmosphere and traditional auditorium layout, while our production crew led by Steve Fox, Chris Bennett, Mark Booth and Rob Beeston appreciate the lavish lighting and sound rigs.

“We hope that local people will jump at the chance to see traditional panto presented by local people: the mix of old jokes, familiar songs and magic is exactly what is needed to cheer us all up in the depths of winter.”

Choreography is by Anita Walker, prompting by Jill Crofts and wardrobe by Christine Booth.
