They will be joined by Cape Town Gilbert & Sullivan Society flying in from South Africa to perform their production of The Mikado.  This will be the third time this talented group have performed in the Opera House.

The National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company started life in Buxton Opera House as the resident, professional company of the Gilbert & Sullivan Festival that made its home in Buxton for 20 years until its move to Harrogate in 2015.

Artistic director Ian Smith said: “Buxton Opera House and our fantastic Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company go together like salt and pepper!  We are very excited to be returning to our old home of Buxton and look forward to meeting up with many friends during the week.

“The shows are delightful and a joy for all.  We have a wonderful cast of the very best Gilbert & Sullivan players to be found anywhere and we just know this is going to be a very special and very magical week indeed”.

This year’s programme is directed by John Savournin.
